Uber heating and cooling was all over the place

I hate getting into interactions with strangers.

  • That’s why getting locked inside a car with a random driver really freaks me out.

Are we going to have to small talk the entire time, or can we just ignore each other? It also never helps when there’s apparently horrible onboard heating, cooling, and air quality control to make matters even more hot and cold. I guess a broken heating and cooling system was really what I needed to develop a new issue with strangers… the fear of unpredictable indoor air temperature controls among others. A few weeks ago I left the house for a party, embarking on the cold winter trek. The air temperature had been unpleasant for the past several weeks already, but now it was taking a turn for blizzard season. Suddenly the outdoor air was so overwhelmingly cold that I put on several layers of clothing to offset the ice cold air. I picked up my phone and jumped straight into my Uber without another thought. Too bad, when I got into the vehicle I realized right away that the heating, cooling, and ventilation settings felt bad. In fact, it felt like the driver was blasting heat into the vehicle for one moment before changing over to the AC system. For the entire ride, the indoor air was fluctuating back and forth from hot to cold. I couldn’t get out. I couldn’t warm myself up when the AC was flowing, but I also couldn’t cool myself down when the heat started blasting. By the time I reached my destination, I was filled with terror every time I thought about HVAC from that day forward. I think I was scarred permanently after my unpredictable ride, and now I just stay home.
