First, a good HVAC serviceman will have a wide knowledge and understanding of how air conditioners, furnaces, and boilers work. You would be surprised at how many HVAC servicemen can’t fix some of the simplest and most common air conditioning or furnace problems just because they are too lazy to figure it out. Next, a good HVAC serviceman will always be kind, respectful, and polite. It makes me boil when I hear of a customer complaint that says the HVAC serviceman they hired was rude or unkind. No matter what the situation, an HVAC technician should always strive to be professional and kind. Thirdly, an HVAC serviceman should do the best job he can in the least amount of time possible. It is hard to find the balance in this because some HVAC servicemen will do a thorough job of fixing your air conditioner or furnace unit, but they will take a really long time to do it because they are being paid by the hour. On the opposite end you have the HVAC serviceman who wants to get the job done quickly, but makes mistakes along the way and causes your air conditioner or furnace to be in worse shape than it was when he started. Take these tips and apply them to the next HVAC serviceman you hire and you will be sure to get a good one.
