When I took my family to a rental cabin, I thought we all would have a wonderful time. Well, things didn’t start out so well. As soon as we got to the place, I went to adjust the temperature control settings and the screen was blank. I tried turning on the thermostat but nothing would work. My wife suggested that maybe it needed new batteries, but I thought that couldn’t be it. I ended up calling the rental company to complain that the HVAC system was not working. They asked me what was going on and I told them the thermostat wasn’t even working. The person on the phone thought it was strange that the thermostat wasn’t working and said they would contact an HVAC professional right away. Before I knew it, an HVAC worker was calling my phone and said he would arrive at my location within the hour. I thought that was quick, so I was happy about that. Well, when the HVAC professional got there, he checked the thermostat first thing. He asked if we checked the batteries in the thermostat to which I said I didn’t. My wife blurted out that she told me it might be an issue with the batteries. Sure enough, the HVAC professional swapped out the old batteries with new ones and the HVAC system fired right up. I felt pretty stupid, but at least the rental company covered the cost for the HVAC professional. All we had to worry about was having a good time in the cabin, which we did after that!
