The kid called the health department to complain

Tuesday Morning, I fired one of my employees for stealing from the cash register.

The kid worked at the restaurant for three weeks and he was only on time for one shift.

I was planning to fire the kid at the end of the week, and he helped me make the decision more promptly when I saw him taking cash from the register at lunch. The kid tried to make excuses, but I made him leave as soon as he started getting loud and obnoxious. The next morning, I received a visit from the county health department. They received five complaints on Tuesday afternoon and all of them were basically the same. They claimed that I had bugs in the ductwork above the kitchen and the dining room. One customer claimed that she saw a bug fall out of the ductwork vent and into someone’s soup. I told the inspector that was a ridiculous claim, but he shut down the store until I could prove the ductwork was clean and free of bugs. I spent five hundred dollars on an HVAC crew that uses a camera to take pictures inside the ductwork. Other than a few cobwebs, it was very clean and free of any vermin. I called the inspector and he apologized for the confusion. He told me that they have to follow up on any report that has more than one complaint. I know it was that stupid kid that I fired the day before but I cant prove it. If I could, he would face penalties for filing malicious reports.
