Heated Floors Help My Kids Wake Up For School

Anyone with school-aged children will tell you about the toils of waking children up to get ready for school.

They groan, complain, and ask for five more minutes, and they never realize that their tardiness is something that I have to answer for.

My kids are especially obstinate in the winter months. While my wife and I keep the furnace running all night in the winter, you can’t deny the comfort of a warm duvet on a chilly winter morning. I definitely sympathize with my children, but after I got a note from my daughter’s teacher about her tardiness, I decided that I couldn’t take it anymore. I contacted a local HVAC contractor, and they sent a technician to discuss installing heated floors. We decided that, instead of installing the heated floors in the entire house, we’d get a quote for installing them in just the bedrooms and bathrooms. The HVAC technician thoroughly discussed all of our options, and helped my wife and I make the best choices for this new addition to our home’s heating system. We chose an electric floor heating system, since they’re easier to install and wouldn’t require adding or moving any water hookups in our home. Since we had planned on replacing the carpet in the bedrooms with another kind of flooring anyway, we did these projects simultaneously to save time. The HVAC professional also helped us choose the optimal flooring for our heating system. He was so helpful! Ever since the installation, my kids are much more agreeable during the cold winter mornings. Having heated floors in the bedrooms and bathrooms has improved the quality of life (and the ease of morning wake up calls) in our home!
