It seems that my brother and I have always been in a race to get the nicest things that are modern.
I guess it has always been this way to some degree through our lives. He was showing off his car back in high school and I was showing off my dirtbike. He became an HVAC professional and I became a banking professional. Even though he was this HVAC expert, I still looked to get the nicest HVAC things like radiant heated floors and a nice smart thermostat. Of course he had to get a nice boiler system with radiant heating that was more energy efficient. He also got a really nice touchscreen thermostat and he installed it all on his own. Since he’s the professional, I don’t have the luxury to really install all these things on my own, but I’m thinking about doing that in the future. I could get myself heating and cooling certified, but I think I can install a ductless mini split on my own in the future. Of course, my HVAC system should last at least 20 years so I certainly have time to think about an upgrade like that. One thing I have been really thinking about getting is a new fireplace in my home. I know my brother doesn’t have a fireplace and that definitely will make him jealous. Of course I know that as soon as he sees the new fireplace, he’s going to try to go out and get something nicer installed. This has just been a thing between us but I have to admit, it’s always exciting!
