Sandy and her mom have a love-hate relationship, leaning more towards the hate side of things.
- Her mom gets along with Sandy’s other siblings, however she and Sandy have always been like cats and dogs! Through it all, the one thing Sandy can give her mom credit for is being honest.
Her mom was mean as a snake, although she never lied. This is the sort of attribute you don’t enjoy until you are older, and you come to value those who will be tolerable with you no matter what. When Sandy told her mom she was going to school to study comedy acting, her mom called her foolish. Sandy’s siblings planned on getting certified for Heating and A/C repair, and starting a task for a local contractor. Sandy’s mom said she should do the same thing. Sandy said that she was chasing a dream, and that she didn’t want to spend her life working on air conditioners and gas furnaces. Her mom laughed and explained that her siblings didn’t dream of only working on air conditioners either. They dreamt of having money, owning a house, and getting everything they ever wanted. By learning and earning their Heating and A/C certification and getting a job, they could avoid all student debt and start off making strong wages. Her mom added that with money, Sandy could have freedom over her life, so if that meant she needed to work on air conditioners, that’s just what she’d do. Sandy knows her mom makes a lot of sense, although she still feels like she should chase her dream. She thinks she can do both, and hedge her bets by learning Heating and A/C maintenance in her spare time as a back-up plan for the future.
