The establishment was called Hempstead Commons, and it was the poshest place in mom’s village. Granted, this was not an actual giant village, so perhaps they were impressed with less. Hempstead Commons was a living complex that had apartments and businesses. It was the size of a full block with a little street in front of it that was closed down, fully enclosed, and turned into a promenade. Mom would take dates there periodically, but never thought she’d afford to live there. Though she couldn’t afford it, mom did end up landing an opportunity as their head Heating, Ventilation, and A/C specialist, which came with an apartment on site. A place this posh meant that the occupants were paying a premium, so they needed an on-site Heating, Ventilation, and A/C tech who could handle tasks at any time of the night or morning. In the beginning it was rough, because there hadn’t been common Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system maintenance for several months, which led to more issues. But once mom got caught up on general service, maintenance, and cleaning, the heating plus cooling emergencies were few and far between. She still brought dates to Hempstead Commons, only now she might catch an emergency AC service call in the middle of it. That’s the price mom pays to live in such an establishment, because even with the giant salary of a normal Heating, Ventilation, and A/C tech she’d not be able to afford the rent here. No opportunities last forever, even though mom is doing well in her Heating, Ventilation, and A/C specialist position here, and hope it lasts for a long duration.
