Tom and Alison have always known each other, having been classmates since kindergarten.
The two weren’t consistently the best of friends, but the funny thing about getting older is finding out who is right for you.
Tom had many temporary people in his life, but Alion was consistently there. He can count on her, for better or worse, because they respected each other just enough to be fully honest. When Tom and Alison graduated school, Tom told Alison of his plans of going to school to read the history of Middle Eastern pottery. Alison told him he was stupid. Alison was going into Heating, Ventilation, and A/C work. She encouraged Tom to come with her. Tom decided to follow his heart, and within a few years Alison was running her own small Heating, Ventilation, & A/C repair business, while Tom was $100,000 in debt and unable to get a job. It turns out that Alison was right. Tom was stupid, because he had pursued in education in something there was no demand for! Alison was practical, because she knew every single person in town needed heating & cooling throughout the year. There was always demand for Heating, Ventilation, & A/C services, and none for an expert in Middle Eastern pottery. Tom saw it fit to hedge his bets and ask Alison to hire him on part time in her Heating, Ventilation, & A/C dealer while he applied for jobs with universities across the country. Once again, Alison was bluntly honest with him, and said she would only hire Tom if he was enrolled in Heating, Ventilation, & A/C certification courses which was a top qualification for the position..
