I knew that not everyone trusted people, even if they were in a uniform. Even after showing some people your identification, they are still skeptical about letting you into their house. I tried to explain to the man that I was from the HVAC company, but he didn’t want to hear it. I had my picture ID on my shirt collar, but he didn’t want to look at it. The man pulled out a gun and told me to get off his property. I called the HVAC company I worked for and told them about the behavior of the man. One of the other HVAC technicians knew who I was referring to and he headed out to the house to introduce me. When the other HVAC technician showed up, the man became a bit more easy to talk to, but he still wasn’t happy to see me at his house. He talked to MIke who introduced me and said I was one of the new HVAC technicians in the company. He talked the man into putting his gun away. The old man laughed and showed Mike his gun and said he couldn’t have hurt me with it even if he wanted to. He pulled the trigger and a long dstream of water poured out of the barrel. After laughing about the look on my face when I saw the gun, he shook my hand and apologized. He said it was his way of letting people know that he wasn’t someone you could take advantage of. Lucky for him, I didn’t call the police when I first saw the gun.
