It was easy to agree on one thing; ditching the oil furnace

When my wife and I bought our first home, we were sure about one thing, we wanted to replace the oil furnace that came with the place.

Sure, the oil furnace was in good working condition, but it was expensive to refuel it.

There were the oil delivery fees too and that was just too much to have to deal with. The thing is, we both thought we were right about what style of furnace to get. She said we should get an electric heating system because we could have it work off some solar panels. I said we should just convert to a gas furnace because gas wasn’t too costly. I figured with an energy efficient heating system, we wouldn’t have any issues. We ended up consulting with an HVAC expert and he said we both had good ideas and he couldn’t really recommend one over the other since it was our personal preference. I finally ended up yielding to my wife saying that it was a good idea to have the heating system working with solar panels. That really was my only concern about using an electric heating system, having the chance of the power going out. But if you have solar panels, you always have a store of power that your equipment can run off of, so I had to admit that she had a pretty smart homeowner solution. We ended up getting a really nice electric furnace that is very energy efficient. So far our energy bills have been low, and I can’t wait to see how things go when we get our solar panel system.
