The hotel staff didn't want to move my room after the heating issue

I decided to drive up north to see my family for a week.

It was a very long 16 hour drive, so I decided to stop and get a hotel room for the night.

I originally planned to drive the entire way, but I was very tired after being up all day and going to class. I stopped at a hotel close to the interstate. They had availability and the rates were reasonable. I requested a room on the first floor. I grabbed my overnight bag from the car and checked into the room. The first thing I did was turn on the heater. It was pretty chilly and there was a light dusting of snow on the ground. The heater came on immediately and the air was very hot. I knew the room was going to get warm quickly. I turned on the shower and prepared all of my shaving supplies. The heater abruptly stopped about 5 minutes after I turned it on. It made a couple of backfire noises and would not start up again. I called the front desk and I told them about the heating issue. They said okay and I assumed they would send someone to help. After an hour, I called the front desk again. They told me there were no other rooms available and offered to bring me an extra blanket. The hotel staff wasn’t going to move my room, but the parking lot was half full. I knew there were other rooms available. I went down to the lobby and yelled at the clerk until I got exactly what I wanted.
