Jack is one of my best friends.
The guy used to work on the first shift at the plant.
When his girlfriend got pregnant, he decided to go to the 2nd shift so someone could be home with a baby at all times of the day and night. It’s like $250 every single week to put an infant in daycare. Jack and his girlfriend didn’t want to put the baby in daycare and they certainly didn’t want to spend a thousand dollars every month of their hard-earned money. Unfortunately for us at the plant, Jack was the only guy that could fix all of the electrical problems with these machines. Jack is a whiz with electrical stuff. He can take a machine apart and rewire it so it works even better than it did before. I knew we were going to be in deep trouble when Jack moved from the first shift to the second shift. Last Wednesday there was an issue with one of the machines. It kept sparking inside of the area where all of the electrical stuff is located. I told the crew to shut down the machine. We called the electrical contractor on duty and he could not fix the problem. I told the guys that we needed to call Jack to fix the electrical problem, but the boss didn’t want to pay him overtime. Instead, all of us sat around for 3 hours while the other guy poked and prodded at the issue until he finally solved the problem. Jack would have had that fixed in 10 minutes.
