Jonathan is one of our best friends. The guy used to do tasks on the first shift at the plant. When his partner got pregnant, he opted to go to the 2nd shift so someone could be at the beach house with a baby at all times of the day & night. It’s $300 every single week to put an infant in daycare. Jonathan and his partner did not want to put the baby in daycare and they easily did not want to spend $1200 every month of their hard- received money. Unfortunately for us at the plant, Jonathan was the best guy to service all of the electrical concerns with these machines. He is a whiz with electrical stuff, and he can take a device apart and rewire it so it works even better than it did before. We knew we were going to be in deep trouble when Jonathan moved from the first shift to the hour shift. Last Thursday there was an issue with one of the machines. It kept sparking inside of the section where all of the electrical stuff is located. We told the crew to shut down the machine. We phoned the electrician on duty and he could not service the problem. A bunch of us told the boss that we needed to call Jonathan to service the electrical problem. However, the boss did not want to pay him overtime. Instead, we sat around for quite some time while the other guy poked and prodded at the issue until he finally solved the matter. Jonathan would have had that issue sorted out in no time.
