That cabin didn’t have a residential heating and air conditioning system

We have a mountain man for a father, and we wouldn’t trade that for anything in the world.

  • That man is about as independent and free thinking as anyone weI’ve ever met.

Dad raised us by himself. He inherited a small farm with a tiny little house. That house didn’t have anything like residential Heating and Air Conditioning, but we did have a wood stove. Our father even cooked on that stove, however we are easily dating ourselves by these descriptions. We are now in my early fifties and my Dad is 84. So given the fact that we’re starting to slow down, we can’t imagine what our Dad has been going through. Still, he just does not want to come off that mountain, and we have to understand that. We wanted to relocate him down south with us to a nice home with a wonderful air conditioner. But he would not have it. We live minutes within each other so we can get to him easily. We’ve been looking for ways to make our dad’s life easier in whatever way we can. And, we finally succeeded when it came to bringing modern Heating as well as Air Conditioning system into his house. Dad was a bit hesitant at first. However, he’s also the first to say that he wasn’t getting the stove lit and it was a lot of trouble. So we had the local Heating and Air Conditioning company come in and install some ductless heat pumps. Now dad has all the heating he needs and the wood stove is a backup. But he’s going to really like having some air conditioner because it gets hot even up on that mountain.
