I had never seen our child blush like he did when the roofers were here last week… She didn’t realize they were all going to be young men.
She came bouncing into the house after work and started babbling about something that had happened, i tried to calm his down, but he just kept talking! One of the young guys came out of the bathroom, and he shut right up, and his jaw went slack, and he was speechless for the first time since he l earned how to talk.
I put our finger under his chin and closed his mouth. She ran to his bedroom and refused to come out until the roofers had left. I saw his poke his head around the door, and he asked if the roofers had left yet? I nodded, while trying not to laugh, then after asking what that was all about, he shook his head and said he didn’t want to talk about it. She may not have wanted to talk about it, however I did. I had never seen our child so quiet, nor had I ever seen his blush like he did. She told myself and others he recognized the guy who was in the house. She remembered him from high college. He was more than one years ahead of her, and he had a crush on him. She also knocked the open milk bag off his tray, and it dropped on his head. I was sure the roofer didn’t remember her, but if he did, it was because he made a lasting impression, two weeks later, he called to ask how the roof was laboring out for us, and asked to speak to our child.
