So when the HVAC technician informed us that our heat pump was near the end, it was time start researching residential HVAC equipment. But we soon found out that there was so much out there in terms of heating and cooling equipment, that we were overwhelmed. That’s when we turned to the HVAC professionals for help. We met with an HVAC contractor who really showed us the ropes when it comes to this era of residential HVAC. It was quite the education as heating and cooling equipment has evolved so much over the course of the last 25 years. It was all the HVAC technology advancements that helped bring about the evolution that we see these days when it comes to HVAC. But I missed a big part of all of this when I was factoring all the new information into what the cost outlay would be. So once we got all the new heating and cooling equipment, I hadn’t factored in the new level of HVAC efficiency. The SEER rating on the new HVAC unit is triple what it once was. That results in a massive savings in terms of heating and cooling utility costs. I simply hadn’t factored this in when figuring out the finances. But what a pleasant surprise that was to learn that I’m saving almost forty percent on my residential HVAC operating costs over the old HVAC unit.
