Felt stupid about thermostat

Sometimes I really make a fool out of myself, and I have to swallow some hard truths.

Usually it’s when I’m dealing with my husband and we’re in the middle of a bickering session. I get all riled up and lose my head. Then I spout some nonsense very factually and prepare to fight to the death. The trouble is, every so often, I’m actually wrong. This happened recently when my husband and I were battling over control of the thermostat one day. For whatever reason, he was particularly hot that day, and I was as cold as ever. We already had the thermostat set to 68 degrees, and I felt as though the air conditioning was quite adequate considering we were just lounging around the house. Still, my guy insisted that the AC get turned up higher, so he could finally cool down. I gave in, and we had the air conditioning running on full power for an hour or so, when he finally said I could turn the temperature up a bit if I was too cold. Thank god, it was about time! I went to the thermostat and pushed the usual buttons, but nothing happened. The temperature control device’s screen didn’t even respond to me as I desperately tried to increase the air temperature. At that point I began to get pretty upset in my confusion. Suddenly it dawned on me, my husband had locked the thermostat! It was so clear, he was totally screwing with me! I charged into the room with my HVAC allegations locked, stocked, and loaded…. Only for him to follow me to the thermostat in a huff, press a few buttons, and show me that I had accidentally turned the front panel off.
