The golf game was rained out but it was cozy in the clubhouse

My friends and I always go to play golf on Saturday.

We have been playing golf on Saturdays every week for the past five years.

We always get a very early morning tee time, so we can be finished with our round of golf before lunch. The sky looked dark and grey on Saturday morning last week, but I insisted that we try to play as many holes as possible. I thought we could probably get in 9 holes before the rain was so bad that we had to leave. We were on the third hole when the first bolt of lightning struck the course. I don’t mind playing in the rain, but the lightning is a different story. I knew we could not continue playing, so we gathered up our balls, clubs, and supplies and headed back to the clubhouse. We decided to wait inside to see if the rain and lightning would stop quickly. Sometimes that happens when it rains early in the morning. My friends and I grabbed a couple of snacks and drinks and we headed over to the lounge. The fireplace was filled with logs and there was a warm glow in the room. The fireplace looked great and it was clearly cleaned recently. My friend and I sat in front of the fireplace and enjoyed our snacks. The rain never subsided and we ended up going back home after only playing three holes. Maybe we should have just stayed home that morning, but I hate to give up the chance to play golf even in inclement weather.
