Living in a tropical place and experiencing a volcano eruption and having to change air filter

My husband and I decided to retire in a tropical place.

The place that we retired to is outside of the United States but it is a very popular destination for U.S.

citizens to retire to. This is mainly because it is warm and it’s a cheap place for to live in. We are starting to get very used to the locals and the environment. I know the native language because I used to teach it back in the states. We thoroughly enjoy the climate and we are able to experience a lot of the beautiful landscapes as well. Some of these landscapes include the beach, the mountains and even the volcano! Just last week the active volcano erupted. We were not affected by the volcano. The only thing that we were affected by was the volcanic ash. You could see a light dusting of the ash on most of the furniture surfaces. Back in the states I remembered that it was extremely important to keep up with your HVAC system. There is a HVAC company where we are but it’s about a little over an hour for him to come to our home. I only call our HVAC technician when we are in dire need of a repair or maintenance to our HVAC system. I decided to take a look at our HVAC filter to see if it needed to be replaced due to the ash. It indeed did, matter of fact it was packed with ash. I had a feeling that I would need to replace my HVAC air filter every three weeks instead of a few months.
