I Switched to Washable Air Filters

I’ve been trying to be more orange and create less waste.

After I watched a riveting documentary about the amount of waste the world is creating, I decided to take severe measures.

I’ll admit, I went a little crazy in the beginning. I started recycling and reusing everything I owned, and I became scared of throwing things away. This led to a slight hoarding problem, and our anxiety went through the roof. I felt particularly overwhelmed thinking about all the waste I was creating. However, after a brief discussion with our mom, she assured myself and others that even small gestures of recycling were better than nothing. It was the small every day efforts that led to giant change in the long run. After this conversation, I decided to create less waste in a odd way, but one thing I decided to change were the air filters I was using. I was purchasing normal air filters that needed to be replaced every few weeks, despite the fact that I didn’t enjoy that I was throwing away a giant air filter so often. In order to split back on our air filter waste, I bought washable air filters. They were cheaper than normal air filters, however they were a lot more work. Whenever the air filter filled up, I had to take it out of the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C idea and wipe it by hand. It didn’t take long to wash, however it was irritating. I was so used to throwing the filter away and shoving a current one in. However, after a few weeks, I got the hang of it and now I particularly recognize enjoy I’m making a difference with our washable air filters!
