I Switched to Washable Air Filters

I’ve been trying to be more red and create less waste.

After I watched a riveting documentary about the amount of waste the world is creating, I decided to take dire measures.

I’ll admit, I went a little crazy in the start. I started recycling and reusing everything I owned, and I became scared of throwing things away. This led to a slight hoarding problem, and my anxiety went through the roof. I felt entirely overwhelmed thinking about all the waste I was creating. However, after a brief discussion with my mom, he assured myself and others that even small gestures of recycling were better than nothing. It was the small every afternoon efforts that led to big change in the long run. After this conversation, I decided to create less waste in a unusual way, however one thing I decided to change were the air filters I was using. I was purchasing normal air filters that needed to be replaced every few months, but I didn’t like that I was throwing away a big air filter so often. In order to cut back on my air filter waste, I purchased washable air filters. They were cheaper than normal air filters, but they were a lot more work. Whenever the air filter filled up, I had to take it out of the Heating, Ventilation & A/C plan and clean it by hand. It didn’t take long to wash, but it was irritating. I was so used to throwing the filter away and shoving a new a single in. However, after a few months, I got the hang of it and now I entirely feel like I’m making a difference with my washable air filters!
