When our AC went out during the hottest week of the summer, my husband and I had to act quick.
We have three little boys in our house that needed to stay cool.
The HVAC technician couldn’t make it to our house for two weeks to service the broken AC system, so we were forced to purchase two window AC units. We placed one window AC unit in our living room, because that is where we spend the most time during the day. We placed the second window AC unit in our bedroom, and moved all our boys into our room during the evenings. The window AC unit didn’t keep us as cool as our central AC system, but it was better than nothing. I don’t think we would’ve survived without any AC, and we saved money by purchasing the window AC unit compared to a hotel room for two weeks. When our central AC system was finally fixed, I told my husband that I wanted to sell the two window AC units. At first, my husband disagreed with my decision. He wanted to keep the window AC units in the basement in case we needed them again. I wasn’t completely opposed to this, but I still thought selling the AC units was best. Neither of us were planning on our AC system going out again, and I didn’t want a perfectly good window AC unit to rot in our basement. They were only used for two weeks, so I knew we could get a good amount for them. Thankfully, my husband ended up agreeing with me!
