My parents can never do anything halfway.
When they set out to do something, it has to be done to perfection, or it’s considered not done well. My parents are genuinely well known around town because of their extravagant ways. When they became empty nesters, they wanted to downsize into a smaller home. Where pretty much everyone in their situation would simply sell their apartment plus purchase a smaller one, our parents decided to build an genuinely new apartment from the ground up. It took them over a year to completely finish the build, because everything was completely custom designed. They imported stone from Italy for the front of the home, plus the pool was custom designed for their backyard oasis. My parents also went to serious lengths to install a geothermal heat pump for their furnace. Of course they couldn’t install a normal central Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C plan appreciate other houses correctly do. Not only was a geothermal heat pump fancy, but it was time consuming. Thankfully, a geothermal heat pump was easier to install with new construction, plus it would pay itself off over the years. My parents enjoyed how economically friendly a geothermal heat pump was, plus they knew it was a nice investment. It also increased the value of the apartment tremendously. I appreciate their attention to detail, but I don’t think I’d have the patience to custom design a condo appreciate they chose to do, don’t get me wrong, I appreciate visiting their immaculate home, but it certainly cost them a fortune!
