I won’t do at home waxing anymore

Until the recent pandemic, I kept a standing appointment at the local salon.

I got everything from my fingernails to my eyebrows taken care of professionally.

I’ve never pulled any body hair on my own. But, my salon has been forced to close for a few weeks, & I got desperate. I finally took matters into my own hands, & it was a large mistake. I started by giving myself a manicure & pedicure. When that went okay, I was encouraged to grab the tweezers & do some plucking on my own. The process was awful & not totally successful. I certainly don’t have the same skillset as the esthetician who handles the typical threading of my eyebrows, my brows didn’t come out quite as neat & clean. Also, the plucking was downright painful. Still, I figured I could handle at-home waxing. I went online, read some reviews & ordered a home waxing kit. Within 2 days, the kit was delivered right to my porch. I hoped the rest of the procedure would be that simple. I found out that a lot can go bad with it. I had some trouble managing the temperature of the wax, certainly getting it way too warm. I actually caused burns & pulled off some of my skin. It was severely horrible & left me with red, itchy spots. I am just thankful that I stuck with waxing my legs & not my face, then at least I was able to hide the horrible mess I made. I have learned my lesson. Until the salon opens back up, I will stick with shaving & plucking.
