But when I go and visit my mother, it’s always almost like I’m a child again
My mother keeps her house so cold that I can barely stand to go over there to visit her most of the time! I don’t know what the deal is with that woman, but ever since I can remember, she has always been really hot blooded. I guess that’s what you would call her, anyway. I don’t remember her ever being cold once in my life. She’s always complaining about being too hot. When I was growing up, we hardly ever ran the furnace system in our house because my mom didn’t like the house to get too warm. For me and my brother, this was a big problem. Not only were we super cold all the time during the winter, but we couldn’t really even invite our friends over once the weather started cooling off. It was embarrassing for us to have to ask our friends to leave their winter coats on in our house because our mom refused to turn the heating up on the thermostat! These days, I live in my own house and so I keep the thermostat settings at a temperature that I think is much more comfortable. Usually during the winter I keep the heating set at around 71 degrees or so. But when I go and visit my mother, it’s always almost like I’m a child again. My mom keeps her house so cold now that I doubt her furnace has ever been used once! Last week when I went over there for dinner, I could actually see my breath when I sat down at the dining room table.
