Professional athlete getting help from personal trainer

I am a retired professional athlete and I suffer the aches and pains of a very physically demanding career.

  • My hips, back, shoulders, knees and joints often hurt.

Not only do I hope to lessen discomfort, but it’s important to me to maintain my range of motion, strength and weight. I want to feel good, remain healthy and look good for as long as possible. While I no longer step onto a field and get paid to battle for possession of a ball, I continue numerous physical hobbies. I like to golf, sail, whitewater raft, rock climb, hike, ski and all sorts of things. I know that to optimize my quality of life, I need to keep up with a strict workout regimen. I’ve pushed my body to the limits since I was a little kid. My joints, muscles, heart and every part of me is accustomed to strenuous physical demands. However, I no longer have a staff of professionals at my disposal to assist with my conditioning, physical therapy, massage and nutrition. On my own, I struggled. I wasn’t sure how to accommodate my new lifestyle, my age and injuries. I finally sought out the help of a personal trainer who has become invaluable to me. He’s assisted me with developing a healthy and balanced meal plan. I meet with him five days per week for a customized workout session. He’s introduced me to a whole new style of exercises that is less about bulky muscles and speed and targeted more toward the overall maintenance of my body. We work a lot on core strength and include a great deal of cardio activity.
