A few weeks back, my Grandparents passed away and they left all of their property to my sister and I.
The two of us expected our parents to get the household and the farm, however my Grandparents left everything to us.
However my sister and I were suddenly charged with a huge amount of responsibility. The two of us didn’t want to live in the household until some repairs could be made, but in order to make the repairs, the household had to be cleaned from the top to the bottom. My Grandparents had a great deal of items in their household! Some people would say they were hoarders, although I think my Grandparents simply enjoyed collecting things. It took approximately two weeks to wash everything in the house. Some of the items went to a thrift store and we had a yard sale on the property as well. When it came time to wash out the shed and the garage, my sister and I were totally overwhelmed. The building was filled with items from the top to the bottom. The two of us decided to have an open garage sale and we told people to make an offer on anything in the garage. A collector saw a desk in the inside of the garage and she wanted to know if we had more information about that piece of furniture. My sister and I did not have any information about the oak desk in the least. The two of us found a letter in the corner of the desk and the date was 1903. The collector told my sister and I that the antique desk was definitely worth thousands of dollars. Then she told us not to sell the desk without consulting with an antique supplier first.
