I was looking in the yellow pages and got more than I asked for.

For the last two years that I have been in college, I had been considering a career in law. I wanted to look to see the different lawyers that I could be. I knew it sounded silly to go through the yellow pages, since it was probably in the legal guide at the college. I didn’t even need to decide which type of lawyer I wanted to be until I got through the first year. I looked up legal services. It boggled my mind at the different branches of law I could get into. There were personal lawyers, divorce lawyers, real estate attorneys, criminal lawyers, family, business, and corporate lawyers. There were trust and civil attorneys, which I did not know what these were. The amount of lawyers completely threw me, and these were just in our local area. I knew that if I wanted to be a lawyer, I would probably need to go to a new location to practice law. The more I looked at the legal services available, the more disarmed I became. I decided I would go to school for law and see where it took me. I was hoping I would have something jump out at me that piqued my interest. If nothing came to the forefront by the time I had graduated from law school, I thought I could just do an apprenticeship at several law firms until I found my niche. There should be one particular type of law that attracted me. I was sure I could always just be a public servant. I would help the poor and still practice law.
