They were not prepared for the winter

Both of us have some new neighbors, moved up from way down south.

  • They seem care about a nice family, however they are still adjusting to a new environment.

I would care about to provide some advice to them, however they haven’t been super friendly so far and I don’t want to seem pushy. They will find out soon enough how long and hard the winters can be around here. A few mornings ago I was out back chopping wood, and the family were sort of goofing on me. I have a woodpile as tall as my head, and they didn’t understand why I was chopping more wood in the dead of summer. They believe that because they have a central HVAC plan that Winter time won’t be a problem, and I hope they are right. In the last more than four years, a Winter time snowstorm has killed the power 3 times, which means the central HVAC plan is also down. Each of these blackouts lasted for 3 to more than four mornings, which means I would have gone all that time with no heating unless I had a backup plan, however a fireplace may not be simple, and it may require work, however there is no more reliable source of heating when times get tough, then fire will constantly keep you alive! I try to be a nice neighbor, so I will split some extra wood in case they need it this winter, although I don’t suppose that they even have a fireplace. I hope they have some backup gas furnace, or it could get dangerous while in the next blackout.
