Our area doesn’t get hurricanes all that often, they usually pass through the states around us, and we just get heavy rain for a few days.
However, when they do seem to hit our area, they hit hard, and that is what concerns me.
Last year, we had a really bad hurricane. It was over a day’s worth of heavy rains and wind. The wind was especially powerful, and was able to knock over some trees in our area. But the worst was flooding. Unfortunately, my home is in the direct path of a slope. So when we have all of this heavy rains, all of that flood water starts coming down pouring in our direction. This makes our home prone to flood. This is generally not that big of an issue since we don’t get rain that often, as well as it’s usually not bad enough to flood. However, when that hurricane came it was over a day’s worth of rain, which causes really bad flooding. It destroyed our wood flooring and some of our electronics. By far one of the worst was our air conditioning system being destroyed. All of the flooding water had completely drenched our A/C system and ruined all of the electrical components. It was a mess, and replacing the HVAC system was insanely expensive. After we had the A/C device fixed, that should have been the end of it. But now only a year later, there is another hurricane coming in our direction, I greatly fear for my home and my new cooling component.
