Being a stranger in a weird line will truly come with a steep studying curve.
That was truly the case when I moved way up north for a task.
First, I could barely understand anyone because they all talked so fast. Second, I had to make sure most people understood that I’m not stupid just because of my southern accent. And most importantly, there is truly a right way and a wrong way when it comes to heating a home up here. And when I got here, I sure did it the wrong way. When it got cold, and man, did it ever get cold, I simply leaned into the thermostat setting. That led to some pretty exorbitant Heating and Air Conditioning heating bills as the gas furnace was running near non stop. But honestly, I didn’t suppose any better. Thankfully, I have some truly kind neighbors who stepped in this past Summer to tune me in on what I needed to do to save on Heating and Air Conditioning heating. It begins and ends with preparing the house. They showed me how to seal the home up slim with new weather stripping, storm doors and sealing any exterior gaps. They also showed me how to reinsulate a window and guided me when it came to adding insulation to the attic. I did just what they told me to do and it really, truly paid off. Not only was my minute Winter time way more cozy, warm and comfortable, I saved a ton of money on heating bills compared to the year before. I’m still not accustomed to the cold. But having a toasty home to get through the Winter time in has sure made a colossal difference.
