Getting a gas line means a much better stovetop and central heating system

I made a lot of compromises when I bought this house in its former condition, but I didn’t have more money for a nicer place and knew I could renovate it once I did.

Thankfully this home is coming along nicely, especially with the brand new kitchen cabinets and countertops that I had installed last month. It wasn’t cheap, but a coworker’s parents owned a building contracting company and gave me a 30% off discount for the whole kitchen. I was so impressed with their quality of work that I kept their contact information for future projects. However, it took me a while to decide what to upgrade next, especially since there’s so much one could foreseeably do inside this home. I want new windows but I’m waiting for building supplies to drop in value around here once the winter season abates and we transition into spring. It was the frigid heating season this year that finally pushed me to pay for a gas line hookup after debating it for a few years. I realized that I could upgrade from an electric furnace to a gas furnace while also getting a much better stove cooktop for my kitchen. The gas line hookup wasn’t exactly cheap, but the advent of future upgrades to more and more gas appliances is what finally pushed me. It’s not just gas furnaces and stove tops, you can also get a gas clothes dryer and a gas fireplace if you really wanted to. Some people have gas powered ovens in their kitchens as well. Hopefully I’ll love my new gas appliances more than their electric counterparts.
