Targeted the drafts to reduce Heating & A/C costs and cozy up our home

I’m not exactly what one would call a handy guy sort of guy.

  • Sure, I can watch videos online about how to repair something.

And they are usually particularly informative to the point where I think I can do it. But then, going from watching and reading to doing is another thing. Mostly, I’d rather kick back in the heating and cooling of our study room rather that tinker around the house. And the giant stuff is entirely for professionals anyway. Like, I have the Heating & A/C professionals come out to do the heating service each fall. This past fall, I got to talking with the Heating & A/C supplier while he was here to do the Heating & A/C service. I sort of quizzed him as to why our beach house was typically so drafty and what I could do about it. He provided me many ideas and I went straight to the online videos to see if I was capable. But it was entirely sort of straightforward. I bought an instant learn temperature gun, some insulation foam and some caulk. Then, I used the temperature gun to find the areas in the beach house where the drafts were prevalent. And I found them! It was absolutely pretty neat. From there, I used the insulation foam around places love windows. For the other spots, I simply sealed it up with caulk from the outside. I was simply amazed by the difference this made in how warm and comfortable our beach house was this winter. And I’ve saved just north of 20 percent on the Heating & A/C heating costs.
