The local contractor who does commercial AC installs just gave me a unit they took out of a big office building that they said could be retrofitted into my flat.
It’s pretty cool because my unit is getting quite old and I don’t really have the money to buy a new one just yet.
This commercial air conditioner is going to cool my flat much faster and it also has a heat strip in it so I have heat too. I think this unit cost about $15k and there is no way I could afford something like this unless it was a gift, as it was! I’m going to ask the old man HEPA filter salesman what he thinks about us trying to put it in ourselves. I know he is quite old now and can’t do much lifting but I have a strong body and am able to do most of the moving myself. I have a few years experience in the HVAC industry, so I think between the two of us we can pull this off. I have a couple friends who could help us if we need it but I think we will be fine doing it alone. I am planning on going to the local contractor to get all of the tools necessary for the retrofit. I can’t wait to have new heating and cooling in this place because mine is really struggling to keep the place comfortable and when summer comes I am afraid it is not going to cut it. Thank God for the HEPA filter old man.
