My parents we’re disappointed when they found out that I was gay. They were sad and upset, because they thought they were going to miss out on grandchildren. I tried to tell my mom and dad that I still wanted a family, but they were backwards and Southern and didn’t think that was possible. I really threw them for a loop when I met and fell in love with a guy that is a blue collar worker. I met Jack at the hospital, but he is not a doctor or a nurse. He is actually one of the HVAC repair techs that work at the hospital. The guy was talking to a patient one day and I wanted to know more about him. I followed him to the employees staff room and purposely started a conversation with the young and handsome guy. We had our first date a couple of weeks later. Things were strange, weird, and awkward at work, because everyone thought it was weird for the HVAC tech to date the doctor. They were even more bizarre at home. I took Jack to meet my parents last week and they grilled him about his job. They wanted to know how he ended up in a job like HVAC repair. They acted like Jack didn’t have any hopes or dreams. When he told them that HVAC repair work is in his family history, they didn’t have a lot to say in response to his comment. I think they understood exactly what Jack was trying to say with his comments.
