I never gave much thought to the air duct in my house.
I knew that it was used to transfer the heat & air conditioning from the gas furnace or A/C component throughout the house.
I didn’t suppose there was any way for my air duct to fail. I had it cleaned every several to numerous years, but I didn’t pay much attention to how or why the air duct was worked on. When I began to have a lack of airflow, I thought it had something to do with than fans in the gas furnace & A/C unit. Now that I suppose about it, I didn’t have a lot of comprehension about how the Heating & A/C worked. Had I paid attention, I would have known that lack of airflow could also be because my air duct. When the Heating & A/C contractor arrived to check things out, he went for the air duct first. He explained to my partner & I that several times, it could be a small hole or crack in the air duct that will cause the airflow problem. When there is a crack or a hole, the heat or A/C is pulled through the hole which creates a vacuum. This takes all the heat & air conditioning that should be going through the house, & pulls it out through that hole & into the basement or in the walls. I thought I was going to have a tremendous expense replacing the air duct, however it took about an hour to clean the air duct & repair the holes. I l gained a lot about Heating & A/C systems & air duct, just from that 1 visit.
