Thought we’d save energy with programmable thermostat

What a fool I am sometimes, I tell you. It feels like no matter how hard I try, I’m bound to make some major mistakes. Even when my intentions are as pure as the freshly fallen snow, you’d better believe that something will go very wrong due to some unforeseen detail I’ve overlooked. For instance, just last year, when I thought it would be a great plan to update our entire HVAC system at home. The old air temperature handling equipment was several years past its expiration date already, and we had been dealing with plenty of spotty air quality, uneven indoor air temperatures, and high energy bills for some time already. Considering the option of upgrading our AC, furnace, and temperature control unit all at once, I decided that this was the best course of action to keep the whole house modern and energy efficient. Specifically, I believed that an energy efficient programmable thermostat would be the most beneficial option for us to manage our daily HVAC usage without having to lord over the thermostat every day. What I didn’t expect was exactly how easily the thermostat was disconnected from the appropriate time each day. Somehow, we wound up with this air temperature control unit that cannot keep time to save its own life, let alone to save us money on energy bills each month. The stupid thermostat never knows what time it is, and therefore it’s always telling the furnace and AC unit to kick into gear at the worst times possible. Rather than saving energy, we’re wasting more than ever when the air quality machinery runs all day long and tries to shut off when we’re back at home. I know I need to call the HVAC company for a replacement, but I’m afraid to find out what could go wrong next!
