Balancing the humidity is part of the HVAC process

Heat and humidity are just part of the deal in my area.

  • It’s a bit of a trade off really.

Our region is known for a lot of sun and plenty of blue skies. Lots of people come from all over to experience it. However, they are too excited to visit once the summer heat and humidity hit. That combination makes our summers pretty tough to get through. Yet for me, it’s worth it given how excellent the weather is the rest of the year. Most of us around here do what we can to keep the HVAC cooling costs in check. I know that I make sure each year that my house is really tight. I replace worn weather stripping and make sure all the windows are insulated. Any gaps I find on the exterior are sealed up as well. The main culprit when it comes to HVAC costs is the HVAC setting. If you live down here and you have a monthly household budget, HVAC setting discipline is essential. However, there is a fine line because it’s not just the cooling comfort that is important with the HVAC. The HVAC is performing another very essential function as it cools. It’s a function that we simply overlook but one that would be desperately missed if it didn’t exist. What I am talking about is the fact that the HVAC is balancing the humidity in our homes as it cools. It’s a remarkable byproduct of the cooling process. The heat pump extracts warmer air and exhausts it outside as part of the process. When it does this, it is also removing a great deal of moisture from the air as well.
