Last week, I helped our son build a hedgehog habitat, however he has been asking to get a hedgehog for quite a few years now.
I honestly never wanted to get one, but I always heard that hedgehogs poop like crazy, plus that just wasn’t something that I wanted to have to deal with personally. However, our son made the choice that he needed to get a hedgehog or that he was never going to be blissful. He saved up all of his cash plus he promised to be responsible plus take care of the hedgehog all by himself. I still had reservations about this kind of critter being in our home, however I finally gave in plus let him buy one! At that point, I didn’t know that I was going to have to work especially hard on building a habitat for him too! Apparently, whenever you are building a habitat for this kind of critter, you have to be careful about the heating equipment that you install. Animals like this have to have a built in control component plus a temperature setting in a particular range or they will not survive. I felt like there was a huge amount of pressure being put on me to get everything right or the hedgehog would die! I suppose dads have to do a lot of absurd stuff just so that their kids will be blissful. Anyway, we put in the greatest kind of heating system plus we installed a special temperature control component unit just for the hedgehog. Now, we are going to get a heating mat for the little creature so that it can be cozy whenever it’s sitting around inside of its cage.
