This past week, I helped my kid build a hedgehog habitat. He has been asking to get a hedgehog for such a long time now, however I never wanted to get one… I typically heard that hedgehogs poop a good amount, & that just wasn’t something that I was looking forward to dealing with. However, my kid made the choice that he needed to get a hedgehog or that he was never going to be happy in the least. He saved up all of his money & he promised to be responsible & take care of the hedgehog entirely on his own. I still had reservations about this kind of pet, however I finally gave in & let him buy one. At that point, I didn’t assume that I was going to have to work so hard on building a habitat for him too! Evidently, whenever you are building a habitat for this kind of animal, you have to be super cautious about the heating appliance that you install. Animals such as this have to have a built in temperature control & a temperature setting in a certain range or they will perish. I felt essentially like there was a lot of pressure being put on me to get everything precisely right or the hedgehog would perish! I suppose Moms have to do a lot of absurd stuff sometimes just so that their youngsters will be happy. Anyway, we put in the best kind of heating appliance & we installed a special temperature control unit just for the hedgehog. Now, we are going to get a heating mat for the little creature so that it can be sizzling whenever it’s laying around inside of its cage.
