I called to ask my roofing contractor for some maintenance tips

Having foliage in contact with your roof can really end up causing problems with your roof

I was thinking about doing some spring cleaning around my house when I realized that the interior of my home isn’t the only place that needs to be regularly cleaned and maintained. I suddenly started thinking about my roof and how it also needs to be maintained on a regular basis. That’s when I decided to call and ask my roofing contractor for some maintenance tips. I really didn’t have any idea how to maintain or clean my roof, so I thought that as professionals, they would be the right ones to ask. My roofing contractor told me that if i really wanted to extend the life of my roof and save myself some money in the long run, then I would maintain my roof regularly. According to the roofer that I talked to, doing regular spring maintenance can restore your roofing after being under snow and ice during the winter months. We had a long, cold winter this year, and I was afraid that we were going to have some roof leaks. The first thing he told me to do was to have my roof inspected by a professional roof expert, like him. He also told me that if we had any trees or shrubs that touched the roof, then we should make sure to trim them back. Having foliage in contact with your roof can really end up causing problems with your roof. Over time, the constant contact of tree branches with your roof can cause your shingles to wear out. I took his advice and trimmed back all of our trees and bushes away from the roof.
