If you are ever having trouble with the heating and cooling unit at your house, then the first thing you should do is check out your thermostat.
This isn’t something that I ever thought about in the past, but then I had to learn it the hard way about a year ago, I thought that there was a huge problem with my heating and cooling unit last summer and I called my local HVAC supplier to see if they could send an HVAC serviceman to do some diagnostic work on my heating and cooling system.
I made an appointment with them, even though it was going to cost me quite a bit to have them do it, then well, I stayed home from work the following day so that I could let the HVAC serviceman in. When he pulled up in the HVAC repair truck that day, I thought he would end up being there for several hours. I figured that it would take a while to figure out what the problem was, and then more hours to repair the A/C problem. I told my boss that I wouldn’t be into work until the later part that day. Well, you could say that I was pretty surprised when he was in my home for all of ten minutes before he came and told me that he was done with the job. It turned out that the only issue with my heating and cooling unit was my thermostat. It wasn’t even out of batteries or anything. The problem was that the thermostat was turned off! I must have turned it off when I was cleaning and I didn’t realize it. I was so embarrassed!
