If you are ever having trouble with the heating and cooling unit at your house, then the first thing you should do is check out your thermostat, and this isn’t something that I ever really thought about in the past, and I had to learn it the hard way about a year ago, I thought that there was a big problem with our HVAC unit last Summer and I called our local HVAC business to see if they could send a HVAC tech to do some diagnostic work on our heating and cooling system.
I made an appointment with them, even though it was going to cost me quite a bit to have them do it, I stayed home from work the following day so that I could let the HVAC workman in.
When he pulled up in the HVAC maintenance truck that day, I thought he would end up being there for hours. I figured that it would take a while to figure out what the problem was, and then many more hours to fix the air conditioning system problem. I told my boss that I wouldn’t be into work until later in the day. Well, you could say that I was pretty surprised when he was in my home for all of five minutes before he came and told me that he was done with the work. It turned out that the only issue with the heating and cooling unit was the thermostat. It wasn’t even out of batteries or anything. The problem was that the thermostat was turned off! I must have turned it off when I was cleaning and I didn’t realize it. I was so embarrassed.
