Working out in an air conditioned gym

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, I haven’t really had the opportunity to work out as much as I’d like.

First of all, I don’t have the equipment needed for a full body workout. I tried to purchase the necessary weights, but I guess I wasn’t the only one with that idea. Everywhere I looked, stores were sold out on hand weights, mats, jump ropes, and kettlebells. It felt like a lost cost. I began running outside, as it was my only option. However, when I run outside, it’s often too hot for me to go very far. Being trapped in the heat is not an enjoyable workout. I prefer to workout at the gym because the air conditioning is always so pleasant. While I have nice air conditioning in my apartment, nothing seems to compare to the cool air at the gym. They must use an air purification system because the air quality is so clean and crisp! That being said, gyms are beginning to open up again. The advertisements say that gyms are the safest and cleanest places to workout during this pandemic. However, I find that hard to believe. I am torn between my desire to workout in a comfortable air conditioned space, and my fear of contracting the virus over something nonessential. It’s not so much a question of whether or not I prefer to workout with air conditioning or without, but of what I am willing to risk. I miss the days when I could go to the gym without having to worry about my own health. I guess that I will just have to suck it up and workout outside. At least I can come home to a nice cool apartment after my runs.
