I was saving money for that new air conditioner for a long time.
My apartment doesn’t have a central air conditioner. My last apartment had a central air conditioner, so I never needed to own a window air conditioner. When I moved into this apartment, I had a tight budget, so I have been saving for a window air conditioner ever since I moved into this apartment. I wanted a nicer window air conditioner, so I knew that it was going to take even longer to get my window air conditioner. After nearly a year of saving every extra penny that I could, I finally had enough money for the window air conditioner. I was trying to go to the store that week, but since it was fall, I wasn’t in a rush. In a few weeks, the window air conditioners would go on sale, and I would be able to get one at a great price. However, I found out that one of my friends just had a major problem. They just had to have major surgery, and they didn’t have health insurance. They are trying to pay off their bill, but now, they cannot afford their rent. If they didn’t pay it within ten days, they were going to lose their house, and they have three kids. Sure, I had enough money for the window air conditioner, but I couldn’t let my friend become homeless. I decided to not purchase the window air conditioner, and I gave them the money instead. The look on his face was worth skipping the air conditioner. I will be able to save the money again for the air conditioner, but I might have never gotten that opportunity again.
