I was distraught when our child told myself and others that he was joining a fraternity.
I never actually joined a fraternity myself, even though I had heard all the exhausting things that people talk about.
Well, our child was having a difficult time for sure when I talked to him, although he didn’t seem to want to talk about what was going on. I guess they have strict rules in these fraternities when it comes to talking about what is happening. They are not unquestionably tolerant of ‘snitches’ so to speak. Well, eventually I was able to get our child to tell myself and others something, and I didn’t prefer what I was hearing. He said that they made them sleep with the furnace running at 68 degrees while in the hot season! I thought that our child could get entirely sick from perspiring through the night. He told myself and others that I shouldn’t tell anybody about this or he could get into large trouble. I had to ask our child if it was worth it suffering through the nights with the furnace working at a deranged temperature control setting. He seemed to want to get to the next level so he could start calling the shots, however it sounded prefer they would just torture the next people who were joining the frat house. I asked him if he would love torturing other people the same way he was being tortured with severe temperature control settings, and he admitted that he wouldn’t want to do that. So he ended up quitting the fraternity, and I was proud of him for that.
