My brother gifted my mother his aged window air conditioner once he replaced to central AC.
my mother getting that gift has been horrible for me, and since I am the closet child to my mother’s home, I get called for anything he needs… If my mother needs help with a faucet installation, an ingredient in a recipe or even just for corporation, I am the man for the task.
So his window air conditioner is the heaviest, worst unit ever. My mother doesn’t want to keep the A/C installed all year either, then the place he wants to install the cooling plan is up in his attic. Twice a year I carry the A/C plan either up or down the stairs. The attic stairs are way narrower and more shallow than a normal stair. The attic stairs also curls around and then release out onto a slanted roof. I can barely stand up straight in there. Then I need to haul a heavy cooling plan down the narrow stairs, around a corner, down the hallway and safely install it in his study room. I actually would appreciate to shove the A/C out the window and let it smash in the yard! After the summer time season I get to haul it back up the stairs again. I have thought that if my mother had a ductless mini split, he could leave it all year and instead heat his study room in the winter. It is quite fancy and requires a Heating and A/C business to do the installation. It might be worth the extra cash to get out of A/C duties.
