I never realized how much my children enjoy drawing and coloring until we were visiting with my parents.
My mother set the children up next to the fireplace with a bunch of color books and blank sheets of paper.
She told them to get creative and draw something wonderful. They drew some of the most amazing pictures, and I came to realize that they had some real talent. They didn’t even look like children’s drawings and I wondered how they were able to draw so well. My daughter drew this very detailed tiger and it looked more lifelike than I would have expected. My son drew a dragon. It wasn’t lifelike, but it was really cool! I ended up getting coloring books and blank sheets of paper for them to draw at home. I had them in the living room, but they said they wanted the temperature control settings to be adjusted. They felt like it was too chilly in the living room. I didn’t realize this was such an issue but there was a draft. I ended up having an HVAC professional come out and he said I needed to tighten up the house like a drum to prevent the heating from escaping. He said I had too many drafts and it was because I didn’t have the windows or doors covered for the winter. I thought I had an issue with my heating system, but when I winterized my home, I saved a huge amount of money on my energy bills. I’m glad the kids said something about the cold, because I might not have thought to call the HVAC company otherwise.
