All of the other houses I bought were pretty straight forward when it came to the renovations.
But then, I hit a snag with the HVAC equipment on this last house.
I’m just a few years from retirement and I wanted to have something to do in retirement so I decided to start buying small starter homes, fix them up and turn them into rental units. This has been something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I’m not the sort who watched a few flipping shows on TV and decided to get into it. I’ve always been interested in home improvement. That is evidenced in my home. All the added value in that house comes directly from me. And I’ve also jumped in to help others on projects to further my experience when it came to household projects. I knew this would come in handy when I started buying these homes. I really wasn’t all that interested about spending my retirement sitting in the air conditioning of my living room. So I bought that first house. I was amazed by how well that how thing went. I was able to do everything but replace the HVAC equipment. I have an HVAC contractor friend who is doing these houses for me. It was easy with the others as well. I did all the inside stuff and the HVAC contractor replaced the HVAC equipment. But this last house, we ran into ductwork that was absolutely not salvageable. So we had to make a change. But my HVAC contractor came through with the ductless multi split system.
